Church Organist/Traditional Worship Leader

Bethany Lutheran Church is seeking an experienced organist and Traditional Worship Leader to play our weekly Sunday traditional worship service at 8:30 a.m. and Wednesday traditional worship service when scheduled and to coordinate, recruit for, rehearse and accompany vocalists and instrumentalists, as needed. This is a contract position and requirements include:

• Training and experience in liturgical playing as found in the Lutheran Service Hymnal;
• Training and experience in leading congregational singing, including hymns, Lutheran chorales, Anglican and American hymns;
• Ability to perform moderately difficult organ literature such as works by Bach, Pachelbel, etc.
• Ability to assist the Pastor in selecting hymns as well as play hymns and appropriate pre-service, offering, and post-service music selections.
• Recruit volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists and play accompaniment for rehearsals and services. Accompaniment for church choir as needed.
• Arrange for a substitute from a provided list of area organists if unable to play at any time for the weekly worship service.

Contemporary Worship Leader

Bethany Lutheran Church is seeking an experienced contemporary worship leader to lead worship both instrumentally and vocally at 11:00 am. This is a contract position and requirements include:

• Training and experience in leading a worship band and worshippers vocally and instrumentally (guitar and/or keyboard) in a contemporary style. Experience in Lutheran worship is preferred.
• Assist the Pastor in selecting music and be responsible for organizing music scores and media as needed.
• Recruit volunteer vocalists, instrumentalists and sound team and lead Wednesday evening and Sunday morning worship band rehearsals.
